M. WARTELLA is the award-winning Village Voice cartoonist profiled by The New York Times as a pioneer of online animation in 1998. Wartella's cult cartoons appear weekly in new episodes of Warner Bros.' MAD on Cartoon Network, the all-animated primetime series which debuted to rave reviews in 2010 and is now entering its fourth season in 2013.
Wartella has previously drawn animated segments for MTV’s cult hit WONDER SHOWZEN (2005-2006) and was a writer for the late-night animated Adult Swim program SUPERJAIL!, (Season One, 2008 ). Wartella has contributed to publications including Interview, SPIN, Arthur, Vice, and Nickelodeon Magazine. He has created jacket art for best-selling books from Houghton Mifflin and Touchstone/Fireside, and is a creative contributor to the WACKY PACKAGES line of collectable trading cards from Topps. His sequential artwork is featured in D.C. Comics’ Bizarro World anthology as well as the Eisner and Harvey Awards nominated HOTWIRE anthology from FANTAGRAPHICS books. Wartella is also the founder of Brooklyn's Dream Factory Animation, a full-service animation production studio located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
